About La Pizzica

A family from Salento on Fulham Road: the D'Aversa brothers have brought the food of Puglia to Fulham since 2013, and their Deli since 2009.

Three brothers from Salento

We opened our doors in August 2013 with the aim of bringing lesser-known regional Italian cuisine to Fulham: food and drink from Puglia and from Salento. Since then we have had the opportunity to share all the wonderful food we grew up with.

La Pizzica is a family business founded by three brothers, Rocco, Gianluca and Ivan D'Aversa, supported by an amazing team that loves Italian food and drink culture.

Today we are writing a new chapter: we take traditional recipes and give them a modern touch. What stays the same is the quality of our ingredients and our passion for hospitality.

cucina povera

Cucina povera, the art of wasting nothing

Apulian cooking has long been called “cucina povera”, poor cuisine. Part of the reason is that the land is less lush than elsewhere in Italy; the real reason is that very little of its bounty is ever wasted.

Wild broccoli, asparagus and lesser cuts of meat are all used, with astonishing results. That is the spirit of our kitchen: simple, seasonal ingredients, cooked the way our family cooks them.

What is the pizzica?

The pizzica is the traditional folk dance and music of Salento, played on tambourines and danced in the squares on summer nights. It is joyful, fast and impossible to resist, and it is the spirit we want in our restaurant: the dancer and the sun in our logo come straight from it.

La Pizzica Deli

Before the restaurant there was the Deli. In 2009 the D'Aversa brothers opened La Pizzica Deli at 837 Fulham Road, a few doors down the road: an Italian delicatessen, bakery and café with southern Italian groceries, cheeses and cured meats, handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza.

The same family, the same ingredients from Puglia, and a place to take a piece of Salento home.
